Join artist James Powers for a plein-air drawing lesson on North Mound looking out at Main Creek and the William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge. James is the artist and instructor behind Fastnet, a 20-foot shipping container that he outfitted as a gallery and outdoor drawing studio from which he teaches landscape drawing workshops at Freshkills Park.

Artist James Powers will bring plein-air landscape drawing workshops to Discovery Day on Sunday June 3. These observational drawing workshops will create a visual awareness of the landscape and foster an understanding of the consequences our actions have on the environment through discussion.

Artist Eva Neves will lead two walking tours at Discovery Day on June 26th. Called Sketch and Stroll, the walks invite people to practice being more mindful and aware as they move, drawing their thoughts, feelings, and stories in relation to their surroundings.
