Implementing traditional techniques and methodologies can be logistically impossible and less than ideal at reclaimed land sites. One challenge includes overcoming the conservative protocols often put in place for fear of further disturbing these landscapes, and sometimes not well-suited to the site-specific conditions and needs. Another challenge is transcending the socially constrained idea that reclaimed land sites are “worthless” and convincing the public that they are indeed places of value. This panel will investigate how we can develop new strategies that maximize reclamation opportunities while taking into account site-specific needs and considerations.
