Spring-Cleaning the New Springville Greenway with NYCMTB

Join the Freshkills Park Alliance and the NYCMTB to clean the New Springville Greenway for all path users to enjoy this summer season!

The day will include removing debris and trash, pruning vegetation and creating further access for cyclist and pedestrians alike.

All are welcome to participate, but please wear sturdy/closed toe footwear, weather appropriate clothing, sunscreen, bug repellent, and please bring water and a snack.

Meeting Location: LaTourette Park Model Airfield, 299 Alaska Pl, Staten Island, NY 10306

The Freshkills Park Alliance and the NYCMTB will be meeting at the Field of Dreams Parking Lot on the corner of Foresthill Road and Richmond Ave across from Costco.

About the New Springville Greenway:

Construction of the 3.2 mile New Springville Greenway was completed in the summer of 2015. This pedestrian/cycling path is located along the eastern edge of Freshkills Park, with views that include the slopes of East Mound as well as tidal wetlands and palustrine wetland forests. The north/south bike path creates a green recreational corridor along the busy thoroughfare of Richmond Avenue and extends from Arthur Kill Road to the south all the way north to Travis Avenue and from there to Signs Road. The natural systems along the route can be appreciated while riding or while sitting at the observation deck near Nome Avenue.
