City of Water Day: Wetland Stewardship
Join the Freshkills Park Alliance in a volunteer wetland cleanup at Freshkills Park. Volunteers will be introduced to the basics of water monitoring and its importance, learn about invasive plants and their impact on local ecosystems, and how we can better protect our local environments.
Location: We will meet at the North Park parking lot (Directions here) underneath the solar panel. From here we will caravan into the park together. A PARKs van will also be available with limited seating. ) Transportation/seating will fall under staff discretion.
Gear: Wear sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy. Wear clothes that can get wet. Please also bring water and sunblock.
Technology: Feel free to take photos, but consider carefully before bringing any electronic devices with you as they may possibly get wet, damaged, or dropped during the program.
Restrictions: You will be asked to sign an activity waiver before participating in the program. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 10+.
