Second chances
The first issue of LANDFILL, a new annual publication, features photos of first-person narratives being buried at locations around the five boroughs of New York. Like PostSecret, but uplifting and signed, and with a physical component in the natural landscape.
It features folks telling the stories of their second chance at life. The stories were printed on paper containing flower seeds, and buried. The burials were photographed by Luke Barber-Smith. In time, the paper breaks down, seeds are released, and new life grows out of the old–just like recycling.
The resonance of a landfill being a site for second chances is not lost on us.
