Final week of the University of Trash
Open and on view for one more week at The Sculpture Center in Long Island City, Queens is The University of Trash, an installation by artists Michael Cataldi and Nils Norman that functions as the backdrop for a host of lectures, workshops and events. The artists have welcomed public participation in programming the space and using it as a forum for “radical ideas and projects.” Programs have included movie screenings, workshops dedicated to finding new forms of protest and sessions on boat-building from concrete. The calendar of events is available on the home page, as is a link to the project’s radio station, Trash Radio.
Events don’t have to deal with garbage to be housed by the University, though there is an upcoming lecture from the folks from everydaytrash (one of our favorite blogs) this Saturday from 1-3pm. They’ll be giving a talk and leading a discussion about trash and the Internet.
