Wetland Stewardship
Join the Freshkills Park Alliance in a volunteer wetland cleanup at Freshkills Park. Volunteers will be introduced to the basics of water monitoring and its importance, learn about invasive plants and their impact on local ecosystems, and how we can better protect our local environments.
Your ticket admits 1 car. Due to ongoing construction at the Park, all participants must provide their own car that will stay on-site the whole time. Participants may not use a bicycle, taxi or ride-share service. Due to limited reservations, carpooling with friends and family is encouraged. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Location: We will meet at 1000 West Service Rd in Staten Island, just before the DSNY gate. Please arrive early or on time, as we need to enter and exit the park together.
Gear: Wear sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy. Wear clothes that can get wet. Please also bring water and sunblock.
Technology: Feel free to take photos, but consider carefully before bringing any electronic devices with you as they may possibly get wet, damaged, or dropped during the program.
Restrictions: You will be asked to sign an activity waiver before participating in the program. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 10+.
