Volunteer at Freshkills Park 9/12/20 @ 9:00 AM
Invasive species are invading The Freshkills Studio + Gallery! Become a “Weed Warrior” and help Freshkills Park remove these plants from among our native plantings. Learn how to identify the native and invasive plants while helping to beautify the landscape! We’ll also be working to make the place beautiful in all ways. Ages 16+
Registration: By registering for this event, you confirm you will provide your own transportation. The event is free but registration is required.
Location: We will meet at the Freshkills Park Studio + Gallery in the backyard (2240 Richmond Ave, Staten Island, New York, 10314). By public transportation take the S44 or S59 to Richmond/Travis Avenue.
Gear: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, long pants are preferred. Closed-toe shoes like sneakers or boots are required. Please also bring water and sunblock. Gardening gloves will be provided.
Restrictions: You will be asked to sign an activity waiver before participating in the program.
Cancellation: This tour will be canceled if registration is too low, or if there is a 60% or greater chance of rain on the day of the event. You will be asked to confirm your registration by email before the event. As we receive cancellations, names will be added from the wait list. If you know you will be unable to attend, please cancel your registration by email so we can fill the reservation.
All Visitors and Staff must wear a mask during the entire event.
Masks, Gloves, and Hand sanitizer will be available.
All gardening equipment will be sanitized before and after the event.
By participating in this event you are acknowledging that you and your guests have not experienced a fever, not tested positive for COVID-19, and have not been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 within 14 days of the event.
