Thrive with Pride Volunteer Landscaping @ Schmul Park 6/26/21 @ 9:00 AM

Jun 26, 2021 9:00am

Join the Freshkills Park Alliance and NYC Parks Department for a “Thrive with Pride” volunteer day at Schmul Park on June 26th! Start off your Pride weekend with LGBTQ+ community and allies and learn how to identify native, invasive, and ornamental plants while helping to make the pollinator garden thrive and welcoming to all!
A special natural tie-dye activity will take place during the landscaping project. One shirt size S-XL will be provided for each participant and pre-treated to ensure the dye adheres. Volunteers are more than welcome to bring a shirt, bandana, or other silk, cotton, or wool fabric of their own to dye, but we advise you to pre-treat any fabrics you bring with alum for the most vibrant and long-lasting results (a process called mordanting). Alum can be found in the spice aisle of many grocery stores, craft stores or online.
Together we will help Schmul Park thrive with pride and learn about the wide array of colors in the natural world all around us! Show off your pride by wearing any rainbow apparel that you won’t mind getting a little dirty.
