NRPA Parks for Pollinator Bioblitz @Freshkills Park 9/10/21

Sep 10, 2021 10:00am

Participate in the NRPA Parks for Pollinator Blitz with Freshkills Park Staff at Freshkills Park. Help support community science, and taking part is easy!

Lace up your shoes for a nature walk at Freshkills Park. Freshkills Park researchers will take you behind the scenes to visit areas that are currently closed to the public. On this one-mile walk, you’ll use iNaturalist to share and identify the different pollinators and plants found in the grasslands at Freshkills Park.

Parks for Pollinators is a national campaign to raise awareness and community involvement in the pollinator crisis through local parks and recreation and likeminded organizations. NRPA and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation are challenging local parks to get involved and host a pollinator BioBlitz during September.

Join the Freshkills Park Project on iNaturalist here to submit your observations all September, be sure to stop by Schmul Park, Owl Hollow Soccer Fields, and the New Springville Greenway  to participate on your own time.

There is a $10 suggested donation per participant. Your donation supports the education, programming, and research at the Freshkills Park Alliance and makes programs like this possible.
