Dr. Shannon Curley
Dr. Shannon Curley is an Ecologist and Senior Researcher for the Freshkills Biological Station and with the Freshkills Park Alliance. At Freshkills, she primarily works on projects related to the ecology of grassland communities and the establishment of flora and fauna at the Park. She holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology from SUNY Oswego, a Master of Science degree in Biology from East Stroudsburg University, and a Ph.D. in Biology from The City University of New York Graduate Center in 2020. Dr. Curley is the author of numerous scientific publications, and is the author of The Birds of Freshkills Park (Freshkills Park Alliance, 2022).
Dr. Curley is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, where she studies radar aeroecology, and is a member of the team working on BirdCast, a bird migration tracking platform.
