Joseph Homsey (Ex-Officio)

Joseph G. Homsey is the current Staten Island Borough Commissioner. He is a native Staten Islander whose love for the great outdoors was instilled in him at a very young age. He has worked for NYC Parks for over 12 years across multiple divisions, including the Parks Enforcement Patrol and the Natural Resources Group. In 2017, Joseph joined the Staten Island Borough Commissioner’s office and was appointed Chief of Staff in 2019. His responsibilities have included engaging the elected officials and the community at-large on a vast array of park-related matters, including capital projects, operations, and constituent inquiries. In his role as Chief of Staff, Joseph has served as a consistent presence for the public in the Borough of Parks while also spearheading projects to ensure a high level of customer service for everyone who comes into contact with the administration. Joseph has also prioritized the improvement of existing park spaces, a goal he will continue to work tirelessly towards in his new role.
Joseph is a proud three-time alumnus of John Jay College, earning his Bachelor’s, Master’s in Public Administration, and Advanced Certificate in Emergency Management. Joseph is a dedicated runner, hiker, camper, and scouter, all of which he shares with his wife Caitlin and tries to instill in his two young children, Parker and Willow. When he’s not with them, you’ll find Joseph out in the parks with his tiny Bernedoodle, Chip.
