Alexis Platis

Alexis Platis is a Managing Vice President and Head of the Southeast Region at Build America Mutual (BAM), a leading municipal bond insurance company, where she has been a member of the team since the company’s founding in 2012. With nearly 20 years of experience in public finance, Alexis works closely with state and local governments, investment banks, financial advisors, and other market participants on the structuring and execution of insured municipal bond transactions that finance essential infrastructure and other public projects throughout the Southeast. In 2018, she was recognized as a Bond Buyer Rising Star.

A lifelong Staten Islander, Alexis is deeply committed to the borough and has focused her civic involvement on organizations dedicated to advancing its cultural and educational institutions and preserving Staten Island’s distinctive parks and waterfronts. She serves on the Board of Trustees of Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, where she chairs the Audit Committee; is Treasurer and Co-Chair of the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees of Staten Island Academy, her alma mater; and serves on the Board of the Grasmere and Cameron Lakes Bluebelt Conservancy.

Alexis received her master’s degree from New York University and her B.A. from Vassar College. She lives on Staten Island with her husband, David Singer, and their son.
