Ashley Frenkel is the Community Engagement Manager at the Freshkills Park Alliance. They are working to build a network of advocates for the developing park as well as ensure the park is meeting community needs across Staten Island and New York City through programming and partnership. They also oversee existing and new arts programming. Their previous work includes working as an educator and teaching artist with folks of all ages in disciplines across visual art, science, history, and food at places including the Abrons Arts Center, Rubin Museum of Art, Cathedral of Saint John the DIvine, Staten Island Museum and the American Museum of Natural History. When not working, they enjoy writing poetry and exploring zine making, embroidery, and tattooing, as well as experimenting in the kitchen. They have a BA in Art History from NYU and a MSEd in Leadership in Museum Education from the Bank Street Graduate School of Education.
