Andrew Deer

Andrew Deer, RLA, ASLA, LEED AP, is a Landscape Architect and Urban Designer with over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Deer has been with Freshkills Park since 2009 and serves as Senior Project Manager overseeing Capital Projects at the Park ranging from the first 20-acre amenity project to the completion of a 3-mile linear greenway along its perimeter.  He provides both consultant management and landscape architectural design services for the Park, stewarding projects from initial conception to construction close out. He is a NY state Registered Landscape Architect and a LEED Accredited Professional.  He previously worked as a Consultant with AECOM (EDAW) in New York and SmithGroup (JJR) in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Chicago.  Mr. Deer holds a Master of Urban Design from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University.  Prior to coming to New York City, Mr. Deer served for two years in Mauritania, West Africa as a Community Forestry Agent with the U.S. Peace Corps.
